Inhibition of Amino Acid Transport in Rabbit Intestine by p-Chloromercuriphenyl Sulfonic Acid

Influx of phenylalanine across the brush border of rabbit intestine is markedly reduced by treatment with 5 mM p-chloromercuriphenyl sulfonate (PCMBS). The effect is rapidly and completely reversed by dithiothreitol. Phenylalanine influx into PCMBS-treated tissue can be competitively inhibited by other neutral amino acids and follows saturation kinetics. PCMBS causes an increase in the apparent...

Cationic amino acid transport in the rabbit reticulocyte. Na+-dependent inhibition of Na+-independent transport.

A transport system for cationic amino acids has been described for the rabbit reticulocyte. This system appears neither concentrative nor energy-dependent. At high levels, several neutral amino acids with large apolar side chains inhibit uptake by it; furthermore, the presence of external leucine accelerates lysine exodus from the cell. These effects do not, however, arise from an interaction b...

Chloride dependent amino acid transport in the human small intestine.

Carriers of beta amino acids and imino acids in the small intestine of rabbits and guinea pigs are chloride dependent, and a cotransport of chloride, sodium, and 2-methyl-aminoisobutyric acid has been shown. This study examines the chloride dependence of amino acid transport in the human small intestine. The steady state tissue uptake of amino acids, given as the ratio between substrate concent...

Inhibition of membrane potential-dependent amino acid transport by daptomycin.

Daptomycin inhibits the formation of UDP-N-acetylmuramyl-pentapeptide in Bacillus megaterium by inhibiting active transport of amino acids incorporated into the pentapeptide. The ability of daptomycin to inhibit active transport and peptidoglycan formation may be due to its ability to disrupt the transmembrane electrochemical gradient.

Chemical doping of MoS2 multilayer by p-toluene sulfonic acid

We report the tailoring of the electrical properties of mechanically exfoliated multilayer (ML) molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) by chemical doping. Electrical charge transport and Raman spectroscopy measurements revealed that the p-toluene sulfonic acid (PTSA) imposes n-doping in ML MoS2. The shift of threshold voltage for ML MoS2 transistor was analyzed as a function of reaction time. The threshol...
